Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
I live in San Antonio, TX and have loved this city since I arrived 5 years ago! I was born and raised in Houston, TX and often visit home for family gatherings and photoshoots. I often travel to surrounding cities including for photoshoots as well.
Do you offer mini sessions?
Mini sessions for family and senior portraits may be offered seasonally! These sessions are shorter in time and at a set location. You’ll still get the five-star experience and customer service as well as your high-resolution images from your shoot!
Do you provide digital files, or do they need to be purchased separately?
Each session includes high-resolution digital files along with a print release. The print release gives you the flexibility to print your own images for personal use as much as you’d like. A la carte printing options are available if you’d prefer for me to handle the printing!
Do you publish my images online? Use it for marketing?
You have the flexibility of making your images unlisted (only those with a link can view) or password protected! Anh-Viet Dinh Photography respects your request to make your images private and will not publish images for marketing purposes or otherwise without your consent. A digital photo release form is presented when you purchase your images to indicate whether or not you give permission to use your photos! With consent, Anh-Viet Dinh Photography may use your images for online marketing or print marketing.
What location(s) should we choose for our session?
San Antonio is an amazing city with different scenes to match any personality! Whether you prefer a modern, industrial setting or beautiful greenery, I’m happy to discuss with you a location that’s suited to your taste.
How long does it take to receive my images after the session?
One of my goals is to provide the best customer service, and that includes a quick turnaround time! Each session has a different turnaround time, which is indicated on the pricing page for each respective session, but generally the editing the images may take up to two-weeks maximum from the end of our session. Wedding and commercial photography may take up to a month depending on the project size. I understand that sometimes there’s a need for rush delivery on event, portraits, or wedding photos, so I’m happy to work with deadlines; rush delivery may be available for an additional fee.
How long have you been taking pictures?
I started taking photos in 2009 as a hobby in high school! I haven’t been able to put my camera down since then.
What’s your favorite thing to photograph?
I love all kinds of photography (just look through my portfolio!) but if I had to choose one thing to photograph for the rest of my time as a photographer, I’d have to choose nature/travel photography. We’re surrounded by the most beautiful scenes and sometimes we don’t even see it! I’m happiest when I’m out taking photos of gorgeous landscapes and nightscapes.
What camera and lens do you use? What editing programs do you use?
I began shooting with a 5D Mark II and lately have used a Canon 5D Mark III for most photoshoots and projects. I’ve used some amazing lenses so far, but I absolutely love using the Canon’s 85mm f/1.2 lens! It’s perfect for portraits and gives you a depth-of-field like no other. Some other lenses I love using are 50mm f/1.2 (great all-around lens), and 70-200mm f/2.8. While traveling, I usually only take my 24-70mm f/2.8! It’s a perfect lens for any scenario. I do basic editing for color, contrast, etc using Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw. When I need to manipulate photos or for heavier editing, I use Photoshop CC! I’m a huge advocate for Adobe’s Creative Cloud!
What forms of payment do you accept?
Anh-Viet Dinh Photography accepts all major credit cards, cash, or check. Payment is due before (with cash or check), or at the time of photo delivery. Once your images are ready, I’ll email you with an invoice and payment link. Once the payment is made online, you’ll receive an email with the link to download your high-resolution images. I manage my payments using Stripe, and by doing so, you’re able to make a secure payment using your credit or debit card.
What is a retainer fee?
Some sessions are subject to a retainer retainer fee during the time of booking to secure your date. Upon booking, Anh-Viet Dinh will reserve the time and date of your session and will not make other reservations for that time and date. For this reason, the retainer fee is non-refundable, but it will be credited to your final balance once the photos are delivered. The retainer fee can still be applied for rescheduled sessions, but if the session is canceled for any reason, the retainer fee will not be refunded.
